January Meeting Notes

Hello all,

Some brief not of yesterday’s Leader Meeting are here and will be added to the website.

Everyone brought great appetizers and beverages, and before you know it, we were dancing on the tabletops.  Thankfully no one can get on-line while at JJMS to post our shenanigans on Facebook or prove this actually happened.

Cookie Training will still be provided on January 23rd at Madeleine’s home as per agenda info (below the email).

To be added to the International Night Info but a very important item: **DO NOT HAVE PEANUTS IN ANY FOOD THAT YOUR TROOP BRINGS FOR INTERNATIONAL NIGHT.**

A few countries were selected last night.  Eileen will be providing me with a list of available countries and I will send along ASAP.

Attached is a RECRUITMENT flyer that was sent to all Elementary Schools requesting to be included in the next PTA/PTO announcement.  Lewisboro Library Feb 5th, 6:45-7:45pm.

PENDING: Flyer/additional details for Sweetheart Dance on Feb 1st.

PENDING: Sleepover at the Library

My Alternate Delegate Position ends in May2019.  While I could continue as an Alternate Delegate, as our GS Community grows, I encourage others to vie for the position.  We have 2 Delegates in our district who vote at 2 meetings/year.  If one can’t attend, and alternate delegate is asked to vote.  The council meetings are very informative and give a broader understanding about GS, where money is appropriates, new developments, etc.  Please let the SU team know by May if you’d like to be an Alt Delegate.

Please be sure to read Council’s agenda.  Our retention is 10 fewer, and I’ve already found at least one should be registered but is listed as not.  Please check out the lists to be sure they are accurate.  You can inform Daija Green if there are girls who you KNOW WILL DEF not be joining scouts again.  I just spoke with her this morning, and the girls who graduated HS will drop off at the end of this year, so no need to follow-up with those.

The agenda also has good info, such as the stores now carry “Meetings in a Bag.”  LOL, kind of cute and if you are desperate for ideas, there is a lot of info.  There are Overnight events at Rock Hill in Feb for all different levels.  There is Cookie Info; start date, March booths, etc.

Lastly, Annual Giving: Kathleen sent a detailed email about Annual Giving. We want to reiterate that while Annual Giving may seem like just another task for Leaders to gather checks, we hope that the messaging around the Annual Giving is to have the scouts learn about the world of scouting beyond themselves and K-L.  The campaign brings money to Heart of the Hudson scouts (including our own), which spans many counties/vast area, to improve camps, events, materials, etc.  The effort is to have the Scouts ask friends and family if they could go on-line and make a donation.  Even if $10, if we have high participation at $10/scout family, it would be amazing.

Thank you all for your continued support and rallying to keep Girl Scouts a wonderful opportunity for our girls.

Kind Regards, Kristin I. Koch
