November

Dear all,

What better thing to do on a schools-closed kind of day?  Write GS meeting notes of course!
While sick, from a distance, I reviewed with the 3 in attendance the council’s agenda where there is a lot of useful info, especially the need for scouts to register for 2018-2019.   Scouts participating in any capacity must be registered; the 2018 membership has ended.
  • Early Bird Patches: total of 37.  Kathleen Burleson has the remaining patches. You can contact Kathleen to arrange pick-up at her home (The Meadows).
  • Community Events
    • Veteran’s Day: was a huge success!  Thank you all who participated!
    • Leader Meeting Holiday Dinner: Shooting for Wednesday Dec 12th since the first week is Hanukkah.   Will be 6-8:30; $25pp.  More to come
    • Katonah Caroling:  I have reached out to find out when this is happening, but have not received a response.  If anyone who lives in the Katonah area can find out when the Katonah festival is, and wants to coordinate the GS Caroling, please chime in. Coordinating means: Announce what time troops should meet in Katonah church before event to practice 2 or 3 songs.  Select songs in advance, reply to all in this email with lyrics. Leaders send to parents.  Ask all scouts to wear sashes/vests.  Corral girls to bleachers outside to then carol (like that? 😊).  That’s it.
    • Father-Daughter Dance: A Troop Leader  is considering running this.  Typically held in Feb or March
    • Library Community sleepover:  A Troop Leader has volunteered to run this event this year.   Date: TBD for after holidays
    • International Night:  Eileen Gleba to confirm date, but expecting March 8th; JJMS
    • Community Camping:  Folks are inquiring so there is interest if a Leader would like to organize
  • Annual Giving
    • Our Service Unit will run a digital Campaign this year, Jan. 13th thru Feb. 24th. All information will be sent digitally the week prior. All troops should forward who their Annual Giving Chair is to kburleson1@gmail.com.  Wait what, you say?   Yes, each Troop should have someone identified, just like a Cookie Chair, to be the Annual Giving Chair.  Typically the Troop Leader or Co-Leader has this role.
    • Annual Giving Training will be provided by Kathleen Burleson at our January 9th Leader Meeting
  • Treasurer Topics:
    • 2017-2018 Financial Reports: Kathleen has only received from Troops: 1013, 1038 and 1108.  Please send Kathleen a copy of the report filed with Council, or complete the form and send her a copy.  It is important that we maintain a copy of your financial report.
    • Leader Position Pins:  If there are any new leaders, please contact Kathleen with your request for a Leader Bar Pin. If you are a current leader who has not requested a Leader Pin you should also contact Kathleen to order one for you. She needs a Name, Troop number, Phone number and email address.
    • Fundraising Guideline Revision Committee:  We still have room on the committee if anyone else would like to join.  We will be meeting in Dec. and hope to have a proposal ready for the Service Unit in January.  This will require 1 meeting and several emailing back and forth of the proposals.  A second meeting may be necessary prior to presentation to the Service Unit for a vote.

Leader Meeting Schedule:  1/9, 2/4, 3/6, 4/1, 5/8; JJMS, 7:15. Up middle stairs and U-Turn left to conference room

HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!!!!!
